Recent Works

Here are some recent works of very diverse subjects. I’m fascinated by so much and therefore paint so many subjects. My studio time is the treasure in my day.

North Atlantic Meets São Miguel Island
Basalt Rocks on Madeira São Roque do Faial
Demo painting from Arts & Letters Club of the Prismatic Hot Spring at Yellowstone. I enjoyed what appeared to be passion in nature; the contrast of colours. The orange are cyanobacteria that thrive in the hot and toxic environment of the bacteria. Also seen are hoof prints from bison that are drawn to the heat in bitter Yellowstone winters.
Iceberg Lake, Montana. A trekking trip there just months after ACL surgery brought incredible experiences. At Iceberg lake I rolled up my pants and soaked my healing knee in the ice water. I was fascinated by the mountain and water ice, reflections and the juxtaposition of shape and substance.
Edge Encounter, Mountain goats encountered on a precipitous trail in Montana. The nannies and kids owned the shadowed shelves immediately above the trail.
Wind Drift,
The wind whistled and thundered around the house unprotected from the furry from the great lake. Beneath the chestnut trees it carved the drift in it’s image.
This full sheet painting is one of the most challenging and exciting paintings I’ve ever done. I used all my learning to achieve it, and learned so much more as I worked.
Creek by Our Winter Camp
We set off in the deep snow and deep cold for winter camping. It was a marvellous experience with many treasured moments. This creek was near our campsite. I painted sketches using 1/2 vodka in my water because it was about -8ºC.
